Ulterior Motive

March 24, 2010

Ulterior Motive’s, Special Agent Caitlyn McFarland has recently left domestic counterterrorism in the FBI to pursue other interests within the Bureau that have fewer consequences on her mental state and fewer sacrifices for her personal life.  She settles easily into the Missing Persons unit of the FBI in Hollywood and is looking forward to a challenging new career she hopes will be lower profile.

The first case that falls into Caitlyn’s lap is anything but low profile.  Samantha Archer, an up-and-coming model and younger sister to Paul Archer, Hollywood’s leading action film hero has vanished.  Suddenly Caitlyn’s thrown headfirst into the dark world of modeling and evidence quickly surfaces that Paul’s sister has been kidnapped by someone but it’s unclear what they want. What is clear is what they don’t want – ransom, despite the victim’s celebrity brother. It’s a race against time to get Paul’s sister back and the media circus has already begun, threatening the integrity of the case.  It’s when Caitlyn stumbles across evidence that makes her wonder if the case was ever about the victim or if it had everything to do with her.
